The Ayrshire Speech and Drama section of the Ayrshire Music Festival proved an exciting day for Wellington pupils last week. Primary 7 attended in force, with every single pupil taking part – some as solo performers and others in the choral speaking category. Poems such as Willie Wastle, To a Louse, Ma Hoggie and Address to the Toothache delighted the adjudicator, Brian Marjoribanks. Mr Marjoribanks, a former professional footballer, actor and teacher of Speech & Drama applauded Wellington’s performers on their energy, excellent diction and clear love of the Scottish language!
Many pupils won in their categories – in fact, there are so many we cannot mention them all! – and Primary 7d won the choral speaking competition with their recitation of The Red Herring. This video, filmed especially for Facebook, is their final, polished and perfected performance.
Meanwhile, Mrs Buchanan’s Speech and Drama pupils also achieved wonderful results. The photo above shows Mrs Buchanan’s certificate winners and Aditi Mudunuri, the overall winner of The Ann Girdwood Trophy for Speech and Drama.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
