The Thrift Shop

The Thrift shop sells second hand uniform at a discounted rate. We urge parents to donate any unwanted items of school uniform to the Thrift Shop via the chests situated outside Drumley Hall and Carleton Turrets Hall.

If there is a specific item that you require, an inventory of uniform is held by the School office. Please contact Office Manager Carolynne McEwen or phone the school office.

All proceeds from sales of second hand clothing will be passed directly to the Wellington School Association (WSA) for the benefit of all pupils. Recent purchases made for the school by the WSA include a laser cutter and a school minibus so every contribution counts!

Helpful Tips from Parents

School Tie
Take the school tie and tie it to fit. Then, take it to a dressmakers and ask for them to put Velcro to the back and they will secure the knot. This makes it really simple for wee ones to put their ties on and take them off.

Shirts
EasyClose technology is just the same as attaching Velcro behind the top button – it’s easy to do and makes fastening stiff top buttons a thing of the past!

Tartan Skirts
Remove the inside button and stitch in Velcro. It makes changing a lot quicker but also means your daughter will be able to wear her skirt longer – simply move the Velcro!

Shoes
Many of the Ayr based children’s shoe shops have closed down in recent years. If you are struggling to find a local supplier, there are good shops further up the coast. Try Kilwinning.
