We are incredibly proud to celebrate former pupil Findlay, who has made it through to the next round of Channel 4’s Your Song, featuring amateur singers across the UK performing deeply personal songs.

As many of you know, Findlay’s journey is one of remarkable strength and resilience. In 2020, he along with his sisters, Gabby (former pupil) & Poppy (current pupil) lost their dad, Kevin, to oesophageal cancer, and just four years later, their mum, Victoria, sadly passed away following a battle with breast cancer. Through it all, Findlay, Gabby & Poppy have honoured their parents’ legacy through the Williamson Fund, which you can support using this link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/the-kevin-williamson-legacy-fund

Now in his final year studying Quantity Surveying at GCU, Findlay is using his voice to carry forward the memory of his parents. Before his mum passed, she asked him to sing at her funeral – his heartfelt rendition of Paolo Nutini’s ‘Candy’ touched so many people and went viral, opening the door to this incredible opportunity. Findlay describes the show as “an absolute belter, sharing some amazing stories from some truly exceptional people, which I am honoured to have met along the way.”
When discussing what the show meant to him, Findlay said “Doing the show isn’t about leaving behind a legacy for my parents because they did that themselves by having such a big impact on everyone they met. What my sisters and I now want to do is quite simply highlight that they were the best people ever. We want to use every opportunity we have to share their story and keep their memory alive.”
We are all behind you, Findlay – wishing you the very best for the next round. Make sure you tune in on Sundays at 9pm to cheer Findlay on!
