Tell us a little about your journey, Ewan.
Before I came to Wellington, I had been teaching for ten years and I was at a stage of my career where I was keen to explore pastures new and embrace new challenges. Since then, I have had brilliant Primary 6 classes and I have also had the privilege of coaching the Wellington Junior/P7 Football team over the past two years. The team has been competing against South Ayrshire schools during this time and we have been holding our against strong local opposition.
What were your first – and lasting – impressions of Wellington?
Upon arriving at the school the first thing that struck me was the sense of community. People throughout the school were incredibly welcoming and took time to explain some of the subtle differences between Wellington and other schools. At once I was made to feel part of the Wellington family.
What makes Wellington special in your eyes, Ewan?
The children at the school are fantastic; eager to learn, keen to take on responsibility and unfailingly polite. They understand that high standards are expected of them and that the teachers within the school will help them to achieve all they can academically, musically and on the sports field. Each day when I step in to my classroom and look out at the magnificent view of Arran I realise how lucky I am to work at the school.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
