Last term, pupils in S2 and 3 attended the Future Textiles Workshop at Dumfries House in collaboration with Glasgow Clyde and Ayrshire Colleges.

This exciting project was initiated by HRH The Duke of Rothesay who listened closely to the needs of the textile industry which wishes to address a skills gap.

The project brings together industry and education in the lush surroundings of Dumfries House with a view to training young people in the skills necessary for those working in the textile industry. In the attic atelier, our pupils enjoyed learning how to use the sewing machine and over-locker. They then tested their skills by making a festive cushion with zip using bonding, applique and hand sewing techniques.
