We were delighted to welcome Reverend Aitken to school this morning for a moving Remembrance Assembly.
A quintet of violinists including Mr Smith, Teacher of Modern Studies, played a medley of pieces before Mr Johnson took to the stage to reflect on the First World War. He finished by encouraging pupils and staff to pay a visit to the War Memorial in Wellington Square to contemplate, in a moment of solitude, how lucky we are to live in a time of peace.
Mr Dibden, one of our peripatetic music teachers, played the mournful, military call of the Last Post before the entire Senior School participated in a two minute silence. Reverend Aitken concluded the assembly with a thought-provoking prayer.
Heads of School Mitchell Wyllie and Emma Wishart will be laying a wreath on behalf of the pupils, staff and parents of Wellington School at the War Memorial on Remembrance Sunday.
