This encourages children’s natural curiosity and allows them the valuable opportunity to progress at their own pace in an educationally stimulating environment. We find that this enables children to achieve their full potential.[vc_row_inner attached=”true” column_padding=”2″][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]The school recognises the role of parents as the child’s first educator. We therefore encourage you to be actively involved in your child’s education during their time in Nursery. If you have a special knowledge or interest in any subject, we welcome your input. Parents have contributed positively over the years in a variety of ways, including hosting trips and teaching the children to plant Ayrshire tatties in the Nursery Garden!
Curriculum
The first five years of a child’s life encompass a period of rapid growth and development. Experiences during these early years exert a powerful influence on a child’s learning and long-term development. Consequently, we aim to make your child’s time in the nursery as enriching an experience as possible.
The Curriculum for Excellence 3-18 is fully implemented in Wellington School Nursery. Four capacities are encapsulated within the curriculum; these capacities enable children to be successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Progression
Wellington School staff will work together to ensure a smooth transition into Primary 1 for Nursery children. This will also be the case for children not continuing at Wellington School. In these instances, staff will liaise closely with other nursery establishments and primary schools to provide an easy transition for children and information and continuity for parents.
Several workshops for parents will take place in the Summer Term to provide information about the transfer of children into Primary 1. Dates of these events will be available on the School Calendar.
